Temporary Duty Manager

£13.46 per hour

Fixed term contract – 3 days per week for the first 3 months and when required over 7 days including late evenings and early mornings.

Our client, a museum and library dealing with life, medicine and art, require flexible, professional staff with excellent interpersonal skills to act as Duty Manager. Wellcome Collection’s Duty Managers are responsible for the smooth, safe running of the venue , delivery of a consistent and seamless service and coordination of incident responses.

The role involves of being responsible for the performance , health and safety of the Visitor Experience Assistants and the effective opening and closing procedures including briefings.  The Duty Manager will be working closely with the front line Library , event spaces and retail partners.

Specifically this will include:

  • Providing operational oversight during events
  • Overseeing the visitor flow and coordinating crowd management solutions when required
  • Acting as the main point of contact to resolve escalated issues and complaints
  • Plan staffing and produce daily and event rotas
  • Coordinate gallery use enquiries including maintenance , events and filming request.


Essential Skills

  • Duty Management or venue management experience.
  • Supervisory experience with a track record of delivering results and developing and motivating high performing teams.
  • Experience of delivering a high quality service in a customer or visitor-focused environment.
  • Experience of scheduling or rostering a front line team.
  • A strong awareness and understanding of access and inclusion issues.
  • Experience of managing health, safety & security issues including incident management
