Helping to Find The Right Permanent Job for You

You spend a great deal of time at work so it’s important that you find something that you’re suited to, somewhere you can progress your career and something you can enjoy doing. You’ll find that our priority is finding you the right position and doing our best to help you secure it.

The key to good recruitment is to accurately determine what you, as a candidate, are looking for, what you want out of your job and what you are suited to. It’s only then that we’re able to match your skill set with the needs of an employer.

The same approach is taken with the employers we partner with so that you and they are a match. That’s the key – matching!

Taking the time to discuss your needs and establish the right way forward results in the best of both worlds for you and your new employer.

If you are looking for a new job, permanent or temporary…

There are always a variety of positions available with a range of trusted employers and we will work closely with you to find the best match for you and for them.

Many of our jobseekers register with us because of recommendations from friends and family.

So register with us today and we can begin to find your next opportunity together.

Working As A ‘Temp’ Or Flexible Employee

There are many advantages to flexible working, or ‘temping’ as it’s often called and more so when you work with Step Ahead. Many of our existing temporaries regularly recommend Step Ahead to friends and family and that’s something we’re very proud of.
  • Flexible employment contracts
  • Paid holidays
  • Guaranteed number of days work
  • Online timesheets

The flexible team of workers who achieve the high standards our clients expect has been developed over many years. They remain loyal to because we believe in keeping our staff happy and fulfilled. Along with operational efficiency, flexible employment contracts (which give benefits such as the opportunity to accrue extra paid holiday) added job security and a guaranteed number of days work throughout the year – you can see why we’re known for offering more.

Please check our current vacancies regularly for roles we are currently recruiting to.

How do I register with Step Ahead?

Please call and speak to a consultant, you may then be asked to send a CV – which will be shared across our organisation. You can register to be considered for temporary or permanent work or both.

Alternatively, you can email your CV (preferably in Word format) to info@stepahead.co.uk with a covering message describing the type of work you are seeking, whether this is temporary or permanent and full or part-time and the minimum and preferred pay rate sought.

Please note that full registration is by appointment only. At your appointment you will need to bring the required documents, complete a test and a brief interview.  If you are registering for temporary work, we will need to pursue references at this point.

If an appointment is made for you, you should expect to be with us for a minimum of 2 hours to fill out our registration forms, complete testing, be interviewed and approach your referees. During your interview, we will look to establish the skills and experience you have and the roles that will be most relevant and of interest to you.

If you are registering for temporary work, we’ll also need to talk you through our flexible employee contract.

Do I need a lot of experience to register for temporary work?

Not necessarily. It depends on the assignment.

Generally speaking we look for some basic office / customer service experience, but our clients have a wide range of job categories requiring a wide range of skill levels. They require temps for all sorts of reasons, so substantial experience is not always necessary.

How long must I be available to work to register for temp work with Step Ahead?

We generally look for temps to be available for at least 2 months.

We also register students looking to work during holidays or who are studying part-time.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

We’ll send you these details when you register, or you can click here to find out more.

Where can I find you?

Our office is situated at 138 Holborn and stands out because, above the marble-cladding of the ground floor, are red bricks, arched windows and, at the top, turrets!

Walk through one of the archways leading from either Holborn, Brooke Street or Leather lane to find the central courtyard – Waterhouse Square – and we are in building No 3.

The building is an easy walk from Farringdon (rail and underground) and Chancery Lane. Holborn and St Paul’s stations are also nearby. The area is well-served by buses, including routes number 8, 25, 17, 45,46, 242, 341 and 531 – all of which call at the Holborn/Fetter Lane stop right outside the building.

From Chancery Lane Station

The directions below assume you will leave Chancery Lane Station via the stairs, please continue walking straight down High Holborn (which turns into Holborn almost immediately) passing Accessorize and Barclays on your left hand side before you cross straight on over a small road – Brooke Street. The entrance archway on Holborn is between Brooke Street and Leather Lane with a sign reading 138 – 142 Holborn. Walk through to Waterhouse Square and, as you reach the open area at the far end, you will see No 3 on your left.

From Farringdon Station

The directions below assume you will leave the station by the main exit for the London Underground part of the station: (If you are exiting from the railway entrance, the directions are the same except that you will turn left, rather than right, on exiting the station).

When you exit the underground station please turn right, cross the road at the lights, and continue up Greville Street to Leather Lane.

As you reach a pub called The Argyle (on your left) turn left onto Leather Lane. The entrance arch to Waterhouse Square is then found on your right before you reach the end of Leather Lane. We are on the opposite side of the square from this entrance, in the building marked No 3.

On Arrival at the Building

Go through the revolving doors and go to the reception desk. Give the Receptionist the name of the person you are here to see at Step Ahead.

Once the sign in procedure is completed, they will direct you through the security gates and to the right, where you will take a seat in the light and pleasant atrium. Reception then notify the person you named so that we can come and find you.
